Well, the good news day we have waited so long for was here today. Molly' temperature has stayed low for quite a while. She is still fighting infections, but it looks like she is making slight improvements. The physical therapists gave her a pretty good workout and she seemed to like moving around in spite of the pain. We are hoping she gets her voice back tomorrow. Katy is staying with her tonight and I think she likes the break from her embarrassing parents. We always told our kids that our job as parents was to embarrass them.
Sandy and Alia, write the letter, please. Kesley, your letters are coming in spite of the zip code. Molly loves them. Michaela, swim!
I can't tell all of you enough times how very important everyone has been to us with your support. It has been a month now, and it feels like an eternity. This is just the beginning. We are hoping that you can hang in there with us for a while longer. Thank you!
Good night my princesses. Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. I love you.

Molly,
At the Sorrento Valley Coaster Station where Aunt Frani boards the 4 PM train for Oceanside, there is a little miracle.
A sweet bird has laid her eggs right in the rocks between the North and South tracks. Yes with the trains passing by regularly.
Today it was the subject of NBC's TV News.
Here is the story;
Will Train Crush Baby Birds?

Commuters Fear For Chick's Lives

SAN DIEGO -- A bird has made a home in between the northbound and southbound tracks at the Sorrento Valley Coaster station, and commuters are worried the bird's chicks could soon become the target of a locomotive moving at freeway speed.
Images: Baby Birds Crushed At Freeway Speed?
The bird is a Killdeer, which are characterized by two dark bands of feathers around the upper chest, NBC 7/39 reported. They are known to be experts at camouflage. The bird at the North County coaster stop was likely drawn to the spot because of the rocks between the tracks, which perfectly match its coloring.
Although the Killdeer's eggs are not in any direct jeopardy of being hit by a train at the moment, they could be once the chicks hatch, experts say. Killdeer chicks are known to start hopping and running as soon as they hatch.

"I would imagine that when she actually laid the eggs, the trains were going by, so she knew, presumably, what was going to be happening on a pretty regular schedule," said Meryl Faulkner, of Project Wildlife.
Although the spot might be a dangerous one in terms of oncoming trains, Faulker added, it is a smart place for a nest from the standpoint that predators would be unlikely to attack there. Furthermore, Faulker said, Killdeers are known for laying eggs in rocks near construction sites where oncoming trucks often come in close proximity, and these birds have come out unscathed.
Whether they are in danger or not, the birds cannot be moved because they are a protected species, Faulkner said.
"You have to do it before the eggs are laid," Faulkner said. "Once the eggs are laid, its an active nest protected by the Fish and Wildlife Service and by California State Fish and Game."
I hope you can enjoy this. I wih you very well.
Terrie

Dear Bloom Family,
I have been reading your postings and following your story over the past month. I simply want to thank you. You have unwittingly inspired us all by the strength and grace you all have shown through this experience. I know what has happened has permanently changed both your life and the lives of your family members, and that nothing I or anyone can say will answer your "why". But I hope that you find some measure of comfort in the knowledge that a supportive community surrounds you: we too celebrate every 'good' day and during the 'bad' days we pray patiently for the good days to return again. Thank you for sharing this particular moment of your life with all of us.
I come to Denver on a regular basis, and look forward to the day when I have the opportunity to meet such a remarkable family.

Hello Bob, Bernie, Katy and Molly, It is so nice to get a little good news for a change. Molly is strong and will get through this. It sounds like she sure has a wonderful sister. What a great family!!! That will help Molly so much in her recovery.
I have a question you might have heard, but I still have no answer. If a husband is out in the woods building something, and there is no wife around, is he still doing it wrong? My theory in my house is my wife is jealous of me. She's just mad because the voices only talk to me. Stay strong and stay cool, Denver Bob

Hi Blooms,
Each and every one of you consistently amaze me with your strength and devout faith in something bigger! Molly for fighting a fight no baby should have to fight, Bernie for making such poignant statements and for making another mothers heart feel her pain her love for her family all at the same time, Bob for having made such an impression in the community who loves his daughter and Katy for loving her sister like only a sister can! It's truly amazing and even though I don't know any of you, I have learned of your strength via this blog and hope to one day meet you all!
Take care of Miss Molly for us all!

Dear Miss Molly,
Since your birth day, it has been very obvious how determined a little girl you have always been. Yesterday, I had the priviledge of seeing that determination at work again in a huge way. Everything you were asked to do yesterday you did with grit and pluck. Your pioneer ancestors must be proud of you. I know I am. Most every day for a long time will be like yesterday for you. I know you have the courage and strength to get you through all the days to come. Just do it one day at a time. Those days when it seems to be more than you can handle, lean on your family. We all love you.

Thank you, Jack.

Before too long you'll look back and just remember how difficult this time was, but not be "in" it. What a day that will be, right?

Keep fighting, Molly!

I am a mother of two middle schoolers and know some kids who know Molly. We were all horrified by what happened to her. Everyday when I am online, I check her webpage to see how she is doing. Our little church on Old South Pearl Street says a prayer for all of you every week during our concern time. I hope you know how many "anonymous" people like us are so concerned about Molly and think about her all the time. Our day is brightened when we read that she is doing better. Keep up the good work, Molly!! Keep up you good spirits, family. We are there for all of you in spirit.

We are glad to hear that Molly is getting into the physical therapy. That will help in so many ways. Wanted you to know that three big ones have been notified; hope my letter and reference to the article in the Denver Post will prompt some action. Sleep well, and see you soon.
