Well, our time warp has done a 180 degree turn and is continuing to speed up. Molly is learning how to do so many things for herself that her transition from the hospital to home should go relatively easy. We still don't know when that will be, but it feels like we are getting so close. We have had so many wonderful people volunteering time and materials to get the house ready for that day and we want to thank all of you for your help. I hope that someday when Molly is back to living her life that I can return the favor or pay it forward. The Home Builders Foundation arranged for a lot of this. I look forward to the day that I can do something for you. We met a family from Wichita, Kansas whose child was in the hospital with Molly. They are back in Kansas now and are facing a similar situation with their house. Is there anyone in Wichita who could help them with a little plumbing and carpentry to get their house accessible? If so, leave me a comment with your contact info so that I can pass it on.
We want to thank Jessica Biel for her generous gesture of a date with a stranger to help Molly. She and her dad took time out of their busy schedules to visit Molly and what a lady! She is the epitome of Colorado Cool. She was very warm, open, charming and down-to-earth. We do raise some great "real" people here. Thank you Jessica and John for your kindness. You have no idea how much that meant to Molly and us.
Jeannette, thanks for Molly's mani/pedi. Hope Chelsey is getting stronger and happier each day. You are in our prayers.
Katy, thanks again for being such a great sister and daughter. I did enjoy our evening together and can't wait for the next one. You make me so proud (and I think you and Molly are as hot as Jessica).
Sweet dreams girls. Shoot for the stars. Love you.

I am very happy to hear that you are closer to going home. The most I had to spend in the hospital with my son was two weeks and that seems like forever, most of his hospital stays last around 5 days. My son is still young and we haven't had to look into making our house wheelchair ready but I have noticed that taking him places isn't always the easiest. Just the other day we had to go shopping for shoes for my other kids and I couldn't believe what a pain it was, to try to get around the isles at the shoes store. The only good part was he was having fun pulling stuff off of the shelves. Take Care, Prays from Hartford, SD

Good news, Molly, that you are progressing so quickly! I love fancy nails and toes, and I'm old, so I can imagine what a lift it gives you. Given a chance, most people are wonderful and unsung heroes.

To Molly and her family...

I just spoke with Chelsey's mom in New Mexico and told her what a wonderful time we had this past Friday doing your manicure and pedicure. I was very inspired by you and your family's strength. You all have so many reasons to be angry, yet the only thing I felt during our hour and a half together was the love and strength of your family. You were all so humble and kind. Thank you for a wonderful, uplifting experience. I wish you all the best and will keep you in my prayers!

Hello Bob, Bernie, Katy and Molly,
When you say that Molly might be close to getting to go home, it shows me what a strong person she is. That is unreal. She has sure made a lot of progress in a short time, even though I'm sure it's not short for any of you. May God continue to bless you all.
I went to a Native American museum today. I got to talking to an elderly gentleman there who was 102. He told me of his great Grandfather who lived in the 1800's in South Dakota. As a young boy he asked his father why the indians all have different kind of names. The father said to his young son, "When the child is born the father goes out of the teepee and names the child the first thing he see's." He continued, "It's like your sister "Rising Sun", after she was born I walked outside and I saw the sun was rising. Or your brother "Running Deer", when I went outside I saw a deer running." Then the father looked at the boy and said, "Why do you ask such a question, "Big Dog Pooping".
Stay strong and stay cool.

Just checking in...As I am hurrying around trying to make lists and gather them all and be organized I can't help but think of you and all my other friends who are going through so much! This is a bitter sweet week here in our home...we never dreamed we would make it to this point! So as I am feeling anxious and a little unsure...I pray for you and that you soon will be hurrying around getting ready to go home and start your life again! I know it will be soon and I know it will be hard and I know this all seems awful but I can promise you...It will and does get better! You are such an inspiration to everyone and I am so thankful to all of you! I can't even begin to tell you of my empathy! Just please know there are a lot of us out here praying for you and living differently because of you! Words can't possibly be enough but please know all of us are better people because of you and your strength and courage! keep us posted and take a minute every now and then to remember you are loved by so many! Love and prayers!

Molly,

We don't know you but do know a few East families you're acquainted with. This week as I drove my freshman son to East for the first time, I thought about how important you are to this community. So many are thinking of you and holding you in their hearts. Though you should be starting back to school yourself, it seems from all you've accomplished so far, that it won't be too long before that happens.

In the meantime, we look forward to supporting you and hearing of your continued progress.

All the best,
East Mom

This may seem odd, but I was thinking about Molly as I was sewing on an AmHero quilt today. (That's not the odd part.) Whatever one feels about the war in the middle east, the fact that there are so many soldiers coming home missing a limb has spurred much faster research into the areas of prosthetics, the nervous system, and even tissue regeneration. You are young, Molly, and could easily see the day that some of this research bears great fruit for your benefit, too.

Dear Molly and Family;

My daughter went to East (Danara Pollitt)and was in Molly's class. They weren't big buds or anything but I have read your blog because of the connection.

I work for the National Sports Center for the Disabled. No rush, but whenever you are ready, we can teach you to ski or snowboard or do just about any outdoor sport that you are interested in...and do it well. I noticed Laurie Shook came to see you, she actually raced for us last spring in one of our big "ski race" fundraisers.
