We have been home for 11 days now and are still trying to get things organized and rearranged to accommodate Molly's new "gear". Our house has undergone quite a facelift and is looking pretty good, even though we can't find anything. We will be unpacking for a month. Molly has had a few physical therapy sessions and several doctors visits. She continues to get stronger and better every day. She is still facing a few surgeries down the road, but she gets to decide when those will happen.
On Saturday, we had the opportunity to meet several of the people who have donated materials, time and labor for our house. We are so truly grateful for everything that was (and is still being) done to make the house ready for our homecoming. Without the Home Builders Foundation we would still be standing outside the door trying to figure out how to get Molly into the house. Funny how a person can go through life and never now about organizations that do so much for other people. If you're trying to figure out how to spend that extra cash you have because gas prices have finally dropped, consider the HBF. They do about 50 projects a year for people in Colorado. Thanks everyone!!
Molly should be back in the pool soon. Mallory is helping with a suit. Looking forward to that day!
What a journey! We have only just begun.
Good night my girls. Love you!

Hello Bob, Bernie, Katy, and Molly, What good news to hear you are getting settled in. Molly looking forward to going to the pool is huge. This family continues to amaze me. Molly, you will be a star in whatever you decide to do with your life. God bless you all.
My brother was in town this week from Washington D.C. He works with the state department and he told me of a secret group that the pentagon will announce soon. It is called the U.S.N.F.S.F. (United States Nascar Fans Special Forces) It is a group of 1000 die hard nascar fans from the south that will be dropped off in Iraq. They will be given the following information about these terrorists:
1) The season opened today
2) There is no limit
3) They taste like chicken
4) They don't like beer, pickups, country music, or Jesus.
5) They are DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for Dale Earnhardt's death.
The pentagon expects the problem in Iraq to be over in a week or so.
Stay strong and stay cool,
Denver Bob

Dear Mrs. Bloom,
The thought of Molly back in the water has left me quite emotional. Odd, isn't it, how you can grow to love someone you really do not know at all, but yet, have come to care about deeply?
As for Miss Molly, oh, the things she will do, the places she will go, the people that will love her and need her, the world is just waiting for her to get back in 'the pool.'
I am waiting for you to tell us she is packing up and heading off towards CU and the continuance of her education. That message will come soon, too, I know.
Bless you Mrs. Bloom for your electronic mail, you will never know how the story of your family uplifts and blesses others -- you will never really know.
I remain, your friend, quietly praying for your continued healing,
Love,
An Old East Angel

Hey Bob,

My mom and I were discussing the news this morning and ended up chatting about the debris that delayed the landing of the space shuttle. "Well," she said, "If there is a vacuum in space, clearly nobody's using it."

Mom always keeps it clean.

Dear Bob, Bernie, and Katy,

I just flew home from New York City last night and woke up to the name "molly bloom" mentioned on the morning news. I, of course, ran downstairs, hoping that it was not the molly from my childhood memories (you know, the adorable toddler with the headful of curly hair who followed the pair of Katys everywhere).

I read through all of the Molly news online (I can't believe it didn't filter down to me somehow, but I guess NYC really is that far away) and I am so sorry to hear of what she, and your whole family has gone through. However, I am so happy to read that she is at home and recovering, and has had so much support and love around ber. Bob and Bernie, you two are incredible parents, and Katy, you are a wonderful woman and sister. I would have expected nothing short of grace and positivity from your family in dealing with this situation.

I am going back to new york on Tuesday, the 26th- unfortunately I have no contact information for anyone, so I hope that this message reaches you. My parents and I would love to see all of you, and give our wishes to Molly. I can be reached at katydid430@gmail.com or 646-510-2213 and I hope to get in touch before I leave again. For the time being, my thoughts are with you.

love,
katy chen

Molly--you have all the strength and courage anyone could ever have. I am writing because your story has really touched my heart. Two years ago my husband was diagnosed with a type of bone cancer and last August he had to have his leg amputated. I have a little bit of understanding as to what you must go through everyday. The grief of what's gone, the agonizing pain that those medications never seem to kill, the ghost sensations of an itchy foot that you can't even scratch. Many people have watched your miraclous recovery and seen what courage it must take to perservere and remain steady in your strength to continue through the therapy.

As I watched the news broadcast on your update tonight on News4, I remembered that you are an avid swimmer and that it will definitely be a big part of your continuing recovery. My husband lost his life on May 2nd. He too loved the water, and we had been trying to get certified to be scuba divers. The wet suit that he bought needed obvious adaptations and we paid a seamstress to make it fit with his stump.
Providing that it fits, I would love to give this wet suit to you. Perhaps it will help you do something he was never able to do--walk again. If you are interested, pleast e-mail me at natalie@bodocolorado.com.
Again, I commend you on your courage. You are an inspiration to many people in Colorado!

Bernie, Though our stories do not compare much they have one great commonality and that is we both have watched our beautiful children (all 4 of them) go from happy healthy successful children with beautiful lives to losing their lives as they knew them...we wafch their pain and suffering as we try to deal with what it all is doing to our lives...and we have seen more pain and suffering than any parent should ever see. However,we also have been so blessed...God gave us the MOST EXTRAORDINARY children. They can.will, and have overcome all their adversitities. They will continue to make a lasting impression where ever they go and in whatever they do! Here is to us and all that we are and have and do! One moment at a time! Love and prayers!!! Allegheny Mt.'s Mom

When I visited with you about a week ago , I was amazed at how well you were able to get around. I can't wait to see you in the pool doing what you so love to do.
I am available to assist with any activities, you may need. That goes for you too Bernie.
I hope your day goes well.

I am a senior management person with a charter bus company. A driver friend made a split second decision in April that saved an entire bus load of students from injuries but at the expense of one leg with injuries to the hip and knee of the remaining leg. We try and learn from every tradedy-looking to continually make things safer for the public. When I saw the headline of Molly's accident in a trade publication my thoughts were of seeingif there was a situation for us to learn. With computer skills that stop at answering e-mails, never even visiting a chat room and having no idea what a blog was, with devine intervention I found this site. I have been overwhelmed; first with the intensity of the tragedy, but mostly with the passion of the entire experience. As an older person I find it amazing that a personal situation can be shared with the world, that people involved were willing to share their pain, frustrations, progress, etc., with us. I guess my most overwhelming lesson has been the love shown by everyone. I will never meet Molly; I can do nothing to ease her challanges in the days and years ahead, but I am honored to have been one of the people who had the opportunity to meet Molly. I know as real life is being embraced the messages to "us" will become less frequent. Thank you for your compassionate sharing - frustratingly I only can say to Molly "I wish you love"

Molly, Bernie and Bob ~
I saw you recently at the "medical
plaza." You were coming out of the elevator on the ground floor as I was about to enter it to go up. You were smiling and talking happily to each other. Molly, you looked great! I just noticed your radiant face ... you're a beauty! I hope all is well. I miss your updates, but I (and so many of us) continue to think about you and pray for you daily ... and seeing you briefly looking so good was a real treat! Keep on truckin', girl! You are our hero. And some day we hope to read about you again on this blog and find out how the swimming and everything else is going. You are loved. An East Mom

Mrs Bloom, I caught your interview a few weeks ago on TV - just wanted to tell you the most lasting impression left with me. Molly will be taking care of herself, thanks to two things: the respect you show her and the space you have given her.
It sounds so trite, but your example is making me a better grandmother - thank you for sharing your heart.

YOURS IS THE FIRST SITE I CHECK WHEN I TURN ON MY COMPUTER BECAUSE I WANT TO KNOW HOW YOUR FAMILY IS DOING AND AM DISAPPOINTED WHEN THERE IS NO UPDATE...BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I AM SO HAPPY THAT THINGS ARE GOING TOWARDS NORMAL THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO THINK ABOUT KEEPING ALL OF US INFORMED. MAY YOUR LIFE GET BACK TO NORMAL BLISS, BUT WE HAVE ALL BEEN TOUCHED BY YOUR FAMILY AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR PRAYERS
