For all of you out there who wants to know who Denver Bob is, now is your chance to meet him in person. In February I wrote about the foundation that Katy and her friends were establishing. We were asked to help and have established the Bloom Again: The Molly Bloom Foundation. We are still in the set up phase, but are ready to start fund raising. Our mission is to help other seriously ill or injured athletes return to a sport. Some of the organizations we plan to support will be the NSCD (National Sports Center for the Disabled), the US Paralympics, The Denver Homebuilders Foundation, just to name a few. Last year the swim-a-thon for Molly was very successful. We are going to make this an annual event, this time for the foundation. The date this year will be Friday, July 13th beginning at 10:00 am through Saturday, July 14th 10:00 am. When things are set up, I will add links here for registration and more information. Mark your calendars. Come meet Denver Bob!

Marie in Colorado has left a new comment on your post "May 13, 2007":

Bernie, It gives me comfort to visit this website. I am also in Colorado. My daughter Ria (30 yrs old) lost her right leg below the knee on 30 July 06 as a passenger on a motorcycle. She had been an active snowboarder and plans on getting back up on the slopes soon. She has had another surgery on her right shoulder 1 May 07. Sometimes I get down. But, when I look at my child, I must remember that even though my heart aches for her, she is handling so much more. Thanks for the boost I get when I visit your website. Marie (mother of two sets of twins)

I just saw you, Molly, at your press conference--walking, no less. You are a confident, brave, beautiful young woman, and I am so proud to have known you at East. Nothing will stop you; your future is bright. You are an inspiration to all of us, and you have certainly blessed me. Continued best wishes for further recovery and a wonderful life.

Molly & Family,

Your story has provided strength and hope to our family. My name is Brenda; I live here in Aurora Colorado. On March 3rd of this year my 24 year old Nephew was hit by a train while working for the railroad in Kansas. Justin has had 22 surgeries, 169 blood transfusions and a hemipelvectomy of the right side. After 96 days in intensive care, Justin has finally moved to a rehab center in Kansas. Yesterday Justin was told your story. You and Justin certainly share strength, hope and determination; Justin has asked if he can speak with you. If at all possible, we Justin’s family would love the opportunity for the two of you to talk, and would hope some day the two of you can meet. Please contact me at brendaanddavebaker@msn.com

Our thoughts go out to you and your family as we truly understand.

Thank-you
Brenda

Molly and family,
I just wanted to sign in quickly and say hello, I read the article from the Rocky Mountain News a week or so ago about Molly and am thrilled to hear how well she and you all are doing. My name is Amy, and I was one of the nurses in the DH SICU who took care of Molly while she was there. I read through the blogs and I remember some of those hills and valleys... but most of all I remember the incredible strength and support that came out of such a terrible event. Molly, I've been watching your progress the past year over the news and papers, and I'm proud to have been your nurse at one time. Keep up your amazing and inspiring work!
