October 31, 2006

Halloween. My little mermaid is out with friends showing off her one good leg. I think back to the first few weeks of this ordeal and remember how time stood still. At times I swore I saw the second hand of the clock moving in reverse. Time has now reached warp drive and the dilithium crystals are under extreme stress. Molly continues to heal and move forward. Each day she astounds me with something new that she is able to do by herself. She has been in the pool several times and is working with coaches who are helping with her strokes and pushing her to work hard. It is so wonderful to see her is the water. I haven't seen her smile this much for a very long time. She has a special sort of freedom in the pool. She can stand without help. What a God send. Molly is looking into taking a class or two in January. I hope that works our for her because she is really ready to fire her driver (me) and move on. She still has a long way to go, but she is motivated to get there!
Once again, I want to thank all of the people who held us up when we needed the support. We have come a long way and only because of all the help we received. God bless all of you!

For those of you who would like to help out Molly, there is an opportunity coming up in December that you could support. A dear friend of the Bloom family is organizing a Yoga-thon to honor Molly and raise money for her ongoing care.

There will be four mini Yoga classes, a Silent Auction and Massages available.

It will be held on Saturday, December 2 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Colorado Athletic Club Monaco, 2695 S. Monaco Parkway, in Denver. To register for the Yogathon, donate to the Silent Auction, or for more information, please contact Tracy Curtis at 303-782-4506 or email tcurtis@wellbridge.com.

Molly's extended family and friends thank you all for your kind thoughts and support for Molly, her parents and her sister.

Hello Bob, Bernie, Katy, and Molly, And may God bless you and your family also Bernie. What a nice report to hear Molly is getting better every day. That is one special daughter you Bloom's have there. I've also heard Katy is pretty special too. I guess all in all we really can count our blessing's.
I was in a Perkin's yesterday and they had a sign for a "unique breakfast."
The waitress said it was baked chicken tongue. I told her no way am I eating anything that comes out of a chickens mouth. So I had the scrambled eggs. I also want to tell you of my cousin Jimbo. He found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father passed away. So he decided he needed a woman to enjoy it with. He went to a singles bar and found the most beautiful blonde he's ever seen. He walked up to her and said, "I may look like a plain guy but in a week or two, my father will die, and I'll inherit 20 million dollars." Impressed, the woman went home with him, and three days later became his stepmother. Woman are so much smarter than men.
Stay strong and stay cool. Denver Bob

Bernie,

You are a wonderful writer. A couple of years from now when you can breathe again you should consider writing a book. Molly too.

We were in the dark about where to turn to for support. Hanger Prosthetics was a wonderful resource for us. Not only are they fabulous and up to date on their technology, but they sent us a wonderful packet of books, support video and the wonderful magazine published by the Amputee Cooalition of America. They have a yearly convention, but most of all have motivational stories and information on equipment, if that is something she chooses to use (she may just get around better without it!).

It is good to hear you are able to find some happiness amidst the struggles.

I hope Bernie and Molly, Katie, and your husband were able to go to the polls yesterday and vote out the judges, DA, and politicians who made the deal that let the man who maimed Molly go free the first time.

More importantly, I hope that those folks were actually defeated when all the votes were counted.

Molly and Family;

This posting is one that I as well as many other people who have followed Molly's story, are happy to read. We're thankful to God for answering our prayers.

Molly you are truly my Shero.

You're a remarkable young lady and I'll continue to pray that you achieve all that your heart desires.

Molly's recovery speaks volumes to the type of Parenting Molly and Katy have received.

God Bless you Blooms.

Thanks for the continuing updates - so good to know Molly continues to get better. We will be at the Yoga fundraiser to support Molly and our own physical health. If Molly has shown us anything it's how important it is to take care of our bodies - you never know when you'll need to heal yourself. Thanks for all the strength and courage. You will always be a beacon of hope in this community.

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I have written. You are always in my thoughts. I am so glad that Molly continues to move forward.
Molly, I think it is absolutely wonderful that you are thinking of taking some classes.
Bernie, "firing the driver" is great news. Molly is taking control of her life and that's what we all wish for.
My kids will be home for Thanksgiving and I can't wait. I'm sending good thoughts your way.

I have been reading this for a long time and never posted...and I'm completely blown away by Molly's fast recovery and her obvious determination to not let this rule her life. She's such an inspiration. I think we're about the same age and I don't think I could be anywhere near as strong as she is if it were me. I think if I had half her strength I would be in good shape :). Everyone here is such an inspiration though really...even the comments from people in different states who don't even know Molly or her family (like me!) are so uplifting...with this kind of support I know everyone will shine. And classes! Wow! Seriously, reading this really puts things into perspective..because if you are strong enough to not just cope, but truly come out on top of all this, I can most certainly come out of my trivial matters =)Keep it up!
