This morning Molly had her final wound vac change. Everything looks good for closing her wound on Wednesday. She did just come out of surgery, so she may be pretty tired today. Please call first if you plan to visit today.
I forgot to mention Denver Athletic for providing all of the t-shirts for the swim-a-thon. Thank you for such a generous gesture. I also want to thank Skyline Acres for the use of the pool and the members for giving up a day for us. If I have left out anybody or any business that contributed, please, someone tell me.
Molly is pretty aware of all of the community support. Someday, this will all register with her and I hope it speeds her recovery. Once again, our thanks to all.

Dear Molly and Family,

This is Jamie "Mr." Laurie, the East High Peer Tutoring Coordinator. I've been reading the blog and offering prayers but this is my first comment.

First, Molly,I just wanted to thank you for all the dedication you showed this year. You made Room 223 a bright room to be in 7th period.

Second, I recently ran into Reagan Linton (East class of '98?) who experienced an accident in college that left her in a wheelchair. She lives here in Denver and is active with PHAMALY (Physically Handicapped Amatuer Musical Actors League, Inc. see www.phamaly.org) and a number of great community groups. When/if it is helpful, she offers her support and would be happy to meet any/all members of your family. (I can be reached at flobot5@gmail.com).

For now, though, just know that your entire family is in my prayers, and add me to the list of people inspired by your strength, determination, and courage.

Sincerely,

Jamie Laurie

Molly is such a trooper!!!
I am so happy to hear that I can change from reminding you that Baby Steps are progress to now taking Paul Bunyon Steps. That is wonderful news. And it might not seem like it to you guys but it is so great that she is feeling like a "teenager!"

B & B,
Hi, What a privilege to hang with Molly, thanks for that opportunity. A belated "happy Father's Day" to an amazing dad, husband and man. Bernie, may you rest in knowing that Molly is going through some growth even though it hurts sometimes---a lot!

I hope that once the wound is closed, then the true healing and rehabilitating can begin. It is hard to believe right now, but someday there will be a new normal. And Molly will have the chance to once again seek her happiness. She will find love, joy and peace in a way that is different then everyone once thought it would be, but no less valuable. She will serve as an inspiration to others- for the other children that will undoubtedly be hurt in unimaginable ways and Molly will be there to a shine a light on what goodness can lie on the other side of such tragedies. Molly will continue to be a blessing and a joy in all of our lives, and we pledge to be that for her.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. We pray everyday for the medical community to do whatever they can for Molly to resume some of her abilities again, and we pray for Molly to be at peace with what can't be replaced. It won't be today or tomorrow- but someday, peace. The world is a better place with Molly in it- don't ever forget that.

She 'wants a break from you' during the day!! That reminds me of many years ago when I took my son to a new day-care home. He was scared to meet a new family and was clinging to my hand all the way to the door. Mrs Gutierrez and a younger, cuter version of Mrs G, answered the door - Mrs G said 'this is Winkie, my daughter', and my scared little boy quit clinging and pushed me away.
Those days come and they are major to us, but our kids are just being themselves. That was almost 30 years ago and it still tugs at my heart.
Good for you for letting her have some time to herself and her friends. She still needs you, just not as desperately.
Best wishes.

Hello Bob, Bernie, Katy and Molly, I just got back from South Dakota and it's so good to hear Molly is doing better. It sounds like the healing will really start to begin now. God bless you all.
I had no idea South Dakota was so full of Catholics. I took the baseball team to Star Wars and when Darth Vador said, The force be with you, 3/4 of the crowd stood up and said, "and also with you." Stay strong and stay cool. Denver Bob

Dear Molly and family,
I want to tell you that you're in my thoughts and prayers. Sometimes we don't know why things happen, but we can be encouraged to know that God is all-loving and caring for us. Just look at the community support so far. He is with you and will never leave you.

Dear Bob, Bernie, Katy and especially dear, Molly, Our hearts are just breaking for you. We cannot even imagine the emotions and struggles you face. My eyes flood with tears reading each new update, yet I hear from my dear friend Kathy, that you stopped, Bob, to see how she was progressing in her struggle with cancer....this after a full night at the hospital. I have not written before as you are receiving many notes from your friends. But, we have followed you and are praying for you and your family every day, and will not stop. God Bless you and keep you all strong, Love, Don and Therese Roth
