Today is the first day of summer, the longest day of the year. This may have been the longest day of Molly's life. Her surgery lasted 6 hours. When she woke up, she was in excrutiating pain, both physically and emotionally. I think the reality of all this has finally taken hold. With this huge step forward, comes several steps back. She won't be able to sit up for many days, which means she won't be able to take in anything but ice chips. She can't move her right arm or her leg for a while. She has had to endure so much to get to this point, and now this surgery feels almost barbaric. I know that this is the big step to recovery, but it feels like adding insult to injury. Molly needs to stay quiet for a while, but she will probably want to see people. Please call first. Mallory, I think Molly could use a good dose of you about now. I hear you are planning to come Friday. Thank you.
Molly has finally let us start reading her cards to her. She seems to enjoy them. Keep those cards coming. Thanks for keeping Molly in your hearts and prayers.
I just noticed that there is a link on Molly's Page to all the video produced by Channel 4 for the fund raisers. A lot of people wanted copies of the swim-a-thon. Check out the links. Thank you Molly H.

Molly, it is no coincidence that this huge milestone occurred on the day that the sun is the strongest. You too have such a burning passion and strength and it is that which will see you through. May each day heal you inside and out.

Dear dear Molly -

You will never know how many people care about you, and your family. We just read about your last surgery and are so very very sorry you have to go through this. Try to remember the pain is always at its worst in the evening, and just as the evening leaves us, so will your pain. "This too, shall pass," dearest little Molly, and we pray for you and and your health.

Hang in there Molly Bloom! You continue to do so well and make us all so proud. I am sorry that this surgery hurt so much but maybe it's the last of them and maybe that thought will make it bearable....
Bernie, give her the ice chips until your fingers turn blue and give her a gentle hug of some kind for me!
All the love in the world!

I pray for you today that this pain, like that of childbirth, is somehow diminished in the mind over time. I pray that Molly will remember vividly the compassion and love around her, but that her darkest days will begin to get blurry when her brain is once again filled with happier times.

I wish you peace, inside and out.

To The Bloom Family -

I have had the privledge of speaking to Bernadine lately, and although our company could not provide a service project for your family, my husband and I will keep Molly in our thoughts and prayers. Your daughter sounds like a strong young woman, and with your support, I know she will have the love and caring she needs to move forward with her life. God Bless you and your family, and I will continue to read about Molly's progress.

Sincerely,

Candy Schroder

Molly,

Shambre and I think of you all the time and laugh. We love getting to visit you whenever we can and seeing your humor shine through. You could not have been more right the other day, when you told your sister you were born ready. You were born ready, and that shows in your constant physical and mental strength. We love you Molly through and through. We can't wait to see you!

Love Alex and Shambre

Hello Bob, Bernie, Katy, and Molly, I'm so sad Molly is going through pain right now. But I do think there is pain when the healing begins. God Bless you Molly, and God bless your wonderful family.

Today I have two questions,

1) Do Lipton tea employees take coffee breaks?

2) If a cow was to laugh really hard, would milk come out of her nose?
Stay strong, and stay cool. Denver Bob

Molly-
As unbearable as the pain is, this is a big step to getting you out of the hospital and getting your life back. You'll get through this just like you have with everything else you've endured these past six weeks. You are strong inside and out...never forget that.

I'm glad to hear Mallory will be with you tomorrow. She'll be able to help you through this better than any of us can. Hang in there...this too shall pass...

Love to you all,

Martha

Dear Molly,

When my brother Dave called me on the Sunday morning following your accident to tell me the bad news, it was very difficult to hold back the tears as he was telling me what happened. Some things in life are very difficult to understand, in which this tragic event ranks up at the top. I do believe there is a master plan for everyone, and that things happen for a reason (Good & Bad), even if we aren't able to comprehend the larger meaning at the time. I also believe that how you approach adverse situations in your life is very important. I personally like to the "Glass Half Full" viewpoint, and try to dig down deep inside to find the good things, rather than dwelling on the negative. On the positive side, you have a wondering family, great friends, and an entire community that has your back, which was evident by the enormous turnout at the Swim-A-Thon. I was so moved by your story that I actually got in the water and swam for an hour, which is something I haven't done for 20+ years, when I was a member of the East High Swim Team. (Go Angels!) Being over-weight and out of shape I definitely felt the pain, but I realized that this was nothing compared to the hardship you have been through, so I kept slowly plugging away, even though my speed and form wasn't up to par compared to my high school days. Having survived several years at East swimming under my brother’s direction, I know that you have the dedication and drive to bounce back from this tragedy. I'm also confident that in a year from now that you'll be back in the pool, and will probably be swimming faster than I did at the Swim-A-Thon. Looking beyond swimming, you are an intelligent and beautiful girl, so set your goals high, and rise to the top. Anyway, please try to remain positive and hopeful during this difficult time, and I won't be surprised to see your "Return to Dominance"!

God Bless you Molly,

Andrew Quintana (a.k.a. "The Buzzard")

P.S. - Everyone at my company (Exabyte), also want to pass along their get-well wishes for a speedy recovery.

Dear Bloom family,
I'm just one of the many people who don't know Molly personally but feel as if I do because of how Bob talked about his girls and family. Molly does in deed have a unique support system and we in Bob's neighborhood are with you all way in doing what we can for Molly and your family. We follow your progress, Molly and send our love, prayers and support. Linda Kropf

Molly, you are so strong, and I think of you all the time, I'm sending positive energy! Bob and Bernie, (and Molly) the video that I helped Katie with a bit is under the process of being edited. The video from the swim-a-thon. It's going to be the best piece of cinema you have ever seen. I swear.

Molly,
I do not know you, but think of you often. I can not possibly understand what you are going through, just know that even strangers are praying for you and wishing you the best. You are a remarkable young lady and you will get through this and go on to be a remarkable woman.
