I don't exactly know how Molly felt about celebrating her 18th birthday confined to a bed, but we had a lot to be thankful for. Molly is still with us. We heard that she had a good party. We were kicked out. No grownups after 6:30. Molly is really starting to establish her independence. As a parent, it is so hard to let go of your children. You want to be there every minute to protect them, but you know they have to make their own way. With Molly, it is even harder because I feel that I have that much more to protect her from. She is so determined to get out of the hospital, that today she stood with the walker without help for quite a while. I am in awe of her power.
I feel funny about promoting fund raisers for Molly, but I have been asked to let you know about Mollypalooza. 3 bands from East High (hope I got that right) will be entertaining students and parents on Tues. July 18th at Rock Island at 15th and Wazee starting at 7:00pm. They are auctioning a date with Jessica Biel (Cosmpolitan cover girl) and Josh Mangial (Mr. eye candy 2006) along with other great prizes. Check out www.dosomethingthatmatters.com. $10.00 at the door and all ages welcome. Thanks you guys for doing this. Molly is touched and we are overwhelmed.
I will never cease to be amazed by the community (local and worldwide) support. Thank all of you.
Good night my grown up girls. Sweet dreams. I love you.

Dear Molly,
I read in the paper yesterday about the auction with Jessica Biel. That is incredible. What's even more incredible is all of the strangers who have come out of the woodworks to offer you any kind of support. You must feel like a million bucks! If you don't -- you should. Keep up the hard work. In no time at all the hospital life will be just a memory.
Love Ya,
Sarah

Hello Bob, Bernie, Katy, and Molly, I think the most important thing about Molly's 18th birthday is she got to celebrate it. Kicking the parents out at 6:30 is "big time cool." That really shows she is going to be out of there soon. Like Gomer and Goober used to say, " Special, Special, Special." I have a few questions I'd like answered today.

1) If we came from apes and monkey's, how come we still have apes and monkey's?

2)What if there were no hypothetical questions?

3) If a deaf person swears, does his mother wash his hands with soap?

4) Is there another word for synonym?

5) Where do forest rangers go to "get away from it all?"

6) Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?

7) How is it possible to have a civil war?

8) What was the best thing before sliced bread?

And finally, the reason Santa is so jolly, is because he knows where the bad girls live.

Stay strong and stay cool,
Denver Bob

Wow! It's so exciting to hear about the fundraiser! What a fabulous contribution so many people are making to help.

I'm glad Molly got a no-parents BD party, even if it was in the hospital. It should be special, and we parents are so extraneous at those times!

Someone in yesterday's blog wrote about Cameron Clapp's website (www.cameronclapp.com) and I think you definitely need to check it out. He lost three limbs and is going strong. To read it is uplifting.

Molly, when I was 19 I had knee surgery...I cried like a baby and didn't want my mom to leave my side at the hospital. I am in AWE of your strength and determination. I think I want to be like you when I grow up too (I'm 32...).

Oh what wonderful things you will accomplish with determination like yours!

Hi Molly-
My name's Becky. I'm 14 years old and I live in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I just heard about your story and I was both shocked and amazed. Your strength and determination is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!!! I can't immagine what you're going through, but from what I've read, you are an amazing person. And though I've never met you, I have a feeling you can do anything from now on! I will be praying for you every night. And the driver of your limo is also unbelievable, but most definitly NOT in a good way. I could not believe that his carelessness and his stupidty has caused you this much trauma and pain. I want you to succeed in everything you do from now on. I may be 14 yrs. old, but I know a lot more about things in life than most 14 yr. olds do. Please stay strong. You are an inspiration to everyone in the world. And you deserve to be. Look at you! You're a star!!
Love with all my heart,
Becky
And if I lived in Colorado, you can bet I would be at the hospital in a heart beat to meet you or talk to the amazing person that you are. I'm sorry I live so far away. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I graduated East high in 2003,and now I live in Hawaii. I found out the next day even being so far away, and I really want you and your family to know that EVERYONE knows and cares and they are pissed! I used to play soccer with Mallory. She was always a great inspiration because she would still come to practice and games to hang out, but that girl has always been in awesome spirits and super friendly to anyone around her...she will give Molly some pointers, but from you have said about her I think she will live a wonderful life, way better than you and your family can even imagine! My dearest Molly,
As a disabled Army Ranger I am SO proud of you. Always remember that a turtle must stick its neck out to advance. Regardless of how far out on a limb you must go, rest assured that we all catch you when you fall. Keep your spirit up and show the world YOU are somebody! I have no doubts that you will leave a lasting mark upon this earth. I look forward to reading of your progress from my Farm in Texas.
